John Carrier
Head Coach
John Carrier is in his seventh season as head men’s soccer coach at the University of Alabama in Huntsville after being named to the position on July 2, 2018. His appointment marked a return to Huntsville, where he previously served as an assistant coach from 2014–16 before spending 2017 as the top assistant at Bryan College. During his tenure as head coach, Carrier has guided five D2CCA All-South Region selections, six CSC Academic All-District honorees, 10 All-Gulf South Conference performers, and two GSC All-Academic Team members. His leadership has continued to elevate the Chargers’ competitiveness within the conference while maintaining strong academic standards.
Prior to his head coaching role, Carrier helped UAH reach the GSC Tournament in each of his three seasons as an assistant, compiling a 29-20-3 record during that span. At Bryan in 2017, he assisted the Lions to a 14-6 record and an Appalachian Athletic Conference semifinal appearance, coaching an All-American along with the AAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year. As a player, Carrier starred at Tennessee Wesleyan, earning four all-conference honors and three NAIA All-East Region selections while leading the Bulldogs to two conference championships and a national tournament berth. He also competed for Chattanooga FC and trained in the Norwich City FC academy in England. Carrier resides in Huntsville with his wife, Alanna, and their three children, Emersyn, Luca, and Cruz.
