Joe Rankin is the cornerbacks coach and defensive pass game coordinator for the University of New Hampshire football team in Durham, New Hampshire, and he begins that position in the 2026 season.
Before joining New Hampshire, Rankin spent three seasons at Central Connecticut State from 2023 to 2025 as cornerbacks coach and co-special teams coordinator. Central Connecticut won Northeast Conference titles in 2024 and 2025 and reached the FCS playoffs in both seasons, the first consecutive playoff appearances in program history. His cornerbacks and return specialists produced one All-New England selection and four all-conference honors over that span. In 2024, the defense led the NEC and the FCS in turnovers gained and also topped the conference while finishing among the national leaders in interceptions. Among the players he coached were Davone Walden Jr., a first-team All-New England and first-team All-NEC cornerback in 2024, Brayden Hall, a second-team All-NEC cornerback in 2025, Donovan Wadley, a first-team All-NEC return specialist in 2025, and Jadon Turner, a second-team All-NEC return specialist in 2024.
