Joe Barrer is an assistant coach for the George Washington men's basketball program in Washington, District of Columbia, joining GW in June 2026 ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Before arriving at George Washington, Barrer was head coach of the Birmingham Squadron, the NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, in 2025-26 after serving on the club's staff as an assistant beginning in 2023-24. He also spent five seasons with the Orlando Magic's G League affiliate in Lakeland, including a year as head coach in 2022-23 and four seasons as an assistant, and was part of the staff that won the 2021 NBA G League championship.
