Joanna Persiano
Assistant Coach
Joanna Persiano is in the third year of her second stint as an assistant coach with the Stockton University women’s basketball program. After initially serving on the Ospreys’ staff from 2019–21, she returned in 2023 and has helped Stockton secure 37 victories across her four total seasons with the team. Persiano brings valuable NJAC experience, having previously spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Rutgers-Camden from 2015–19, where she helped guide the Scarlet Raptors to 58 wins and three NJAC Tournament appearances. Her responsibilities include player development, scouting, recruiting, and game preparation, contributing to the program’s steady growth.
As a former collegiate standout, Persiano was a four-year letter winner at Widener University from 2010–14. She finished her career second in program history with 171 three-pointers while scoring 885 points and appearing in 95 games. During the 2012–13 season, she helped Widener reach the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals and led the Commonwealth Conference in three-point percentage (.424). As a senior, she earned All-MAC Honorable Mention honors and was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Academic Honor Roll. Persiano graduated from Widener with a degree in Education and began her coaching career at Ridley High School before moving into the collegiate ranks.
