Joanna Bernabei-McNamee is an assistant coach for the University of Louisville women's basketball program in Louisville, Kentucky, joining the staff in April 2026 after eight seasons as head coach at Boston College.
At Boston College, she led the program to one of its strongest stretches in ACC play. Her 2019-20 team went 20-12, finished fourth in the conference, and set a school record with 11 ACC wins, results that earned her ACC Coach of the Year honors. She also coached several notable players there, including Dontavia Waggoner, whose career placed her among the program's leaders in scoring, rebounding, and steals, and Taina Mair, who made the ACC All-Freshman Team after leading the league in assists and setting the conference freshman single-season assist mark. In 2021-22, Boston College went 21-12, reached the WNIT, and had three players receive All-ACC recognition.
