JJ Ferreira is an assistant gymnastics coach at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland, where he rejoined the women's program in June 2018 for a second stint on Brett Nelligan's staff. He previously served as a Maryland assistant from 2010 to 2016, giving him more than a decade with the Terrapins.
Across his first tenure in College Park, Maryland won regular-season ACC/EAGL titles in 2011 and 2013, finished second at the ACC/EAGL Championships in 2013 and 2014, and placed third at the 2015 NCAA Regionals. Ferreira worked primarily with vault and floor exercise, and the Terrapins broke the school vault record six times during his time on staff, including the current program mark of 49.30. He also coached NCAA Vault All-American Katy Dodds and had worked with Audrey Barber before Barber joined Maryland and later earned Big Ten and Maryland Athletics Freshman of the Year honors.
