Jeremy Hirsch
Defensive Coordinator
Jeremy Hirsch has served as Princeton University’s men’s lacrosse defensive coordinator since the 2018 season, bringing continuity, intensity, and tactical discipline to one of the nation’s most consistent defensive units. Under his leadership, Princeton has produced the Ivy League’s top defense in each of the past three seasons, a stretch that coincided with three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, an NCAA Final Four run, and back-to-back Ivy League Tournament championships in 2023 and 2024. His 2022 defense was particularly effective on the national stage, holding nine of 16 opponents to 10 or fewer goals and limiting NCAA Tournament opponents to just 28 total goals across three games as the Tigers returned to Championship Weekend.
A Princeton alumnus, Hirsch returned to his alma mater after four seasons as defensive coordinator at Hobart College. His presence brought much-needed stability to the program, making him the first Princeton defensive coordinator to return for a second season in seven years at the time of his hiring. A 2010 graduate and the sole captain of the 2010 Tigers, Hirsch was a three-year starter as a defenseman and helped Princeton reach the NCAA Tournament three times, including a quarterfinal appearance, while also winning multiple Ivy League championships and the inaugural Ivy League Tournament. Prior to Hobart, he began his coaching career at Malvern Prep and later coached at Hampden-Sydney, overseeing defense and strength and conditioning. At Hobart, his man-down defense led Division I in 2016 during a season that included an NEC Tournament title and NCAA berth. Hirsch’s return to Princeton reflects both his deep ties to the program and his reputation as one of the Ivy League’s most respected defensive minds.
