Jeff Walz is the head women's basketball coach at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, a position he has held since March 27, 2007. In 19 seasons at Louisville, he has compiled a 515-154 record, making him the winningest coach in program history, and his combined collegiate and international head coaching record stands at 534-155. His contract was extended in March 2022 through the 2028-29 season.
Walz took over a Louisville program that had never reached the NCAA Sweet 16 and had only four NCAA Tournament wins, and he quickly changed its national profile. In his first season, Louisville reached its first Sweet 16 and finished No. 12 in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, performance that earned him the 2008 WBCA Maggie Dixon Rookie Coach of the Year award. Since then, Louisville has become a consistent postseason program under his direction, reaching the NCAA Tournament 17 times, with the 2019-20 event canceled before play began. His NCAA Tournament record is 43-17, a .717 winning percentage that ranks among the best in the sport for coaches with at least 25 tournament games.
