Jeff Tam
Head Coach
Jeff Tam was named head coach of the Florida Institute of Technology baseball program in December 2021 after previously serving three seasons as an assistant coach. Entering the 2026 season, Tam is in his fifth year leading the Panthers and has guided the program through steady growth and competitive success in the Sunshine State Conference. Over his first four seasons, Florida Tech posted a 95–102 overall record while producing seven All-SSC honorees. The 2025 campaign featured a 24–24 finish, highlighted by a winning road record, a series victory over nationally ranked Rollins, a sweep of Palm Beach Atlantic, and a signature shutout upset of No. 4 Florida Southern. His first season at the helm in 2022 was particularly notable, as the Panthers finished 31–19, recorded back-to-back upset wins over No. 7 Nova Southeastern, and placed sixth in the SSC, while earning both athletic and academic accolades.
Prior to his time at Florida Tech, Tam was the head coach at Eastern Florida State College for seven seasons, where he recorded a winning season every year, totaled 216 victories, and produced four consecutive 30-win campaigns. Four of his players were selected in the MLB Amateur Draft during that span. Tam also brings extensive professional playing experience, having spent six seasons as a Major League Baseball relief pitcher with the New York Mets, Cleveland Indians, Oakland Athletics, and Toronto Blue Jays between 1998 and 2003. A Melbourne native and Eau Gallie High School graduate, Tam starred collegiately at Florida State University before signing professionally. He completed his MLB career with a 3.91 ERA across 251 appearances and later earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida State in 2011. Tam and his wife Monica reside in Melbourne with their two children.
