Jeff Capel is the head coach of the University of Pittsburgh men's basketball team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a position he has held since March 28, 2018, when he was named the 16th head coach in program history.
Capel entered the Pitt job after head coaching tenures at Oklahoma and VCU and seven seasons on the staff at Duke, including four as associate head coach under Mike Krzyzewski. Across his head coaching stops at Pitt, Oklahoma, and VCU, he has compiled a 289-237 record and reached the NCAA Tournament four times, highlighted by an Elite Eight appearance with Oklahoma in 2008. Over the course of his coaching career, he has been connected to 19 first-round NBA Draft picks, including 11 lottery selections, while also recruiting 23 McDonald's All-Americans and contributing to six top-10 recruiting classes.
