Jay Friedman
Head Coach
Jay Friedman is the Head Coach of the Rollins College Men’s Tennis program in Winter Park, Florida, a role he has held since the 2021–22 season. Since taking over the Tars, he has rapidly elevated the team’s performance, guiding Rollins to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and earning significant coaching honors. Under his leadership, the Tars secured their first 20-win season in two decades in 2024, culminating in Friedman being named Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year, ITA South Region Coach of the Year, and receiving the Tommy Award for Coach of the Year. His tenure has produced standout players, All-Conference selections, and All-American doubles recognition, reflecting his commitment to both athletic excellence and player development.
Before arriving at Rollins, Friedman amassed extensive collegiate coaching experience. He served four years as an assistant coach at Brown University, where he helped steer the Bears to their first winning season in nearly a decade and coached multiple All-Ivy League players. Prior to Brown, he worked with Washington and Lee University and held assistant coaching positions at Stony Brook University, where his contributions helped secure conference championships and national rankings. His coaching career also includes roles at Allegheny College and various tennis organizations, showcasing a broad background in both competitive collegiate tennis and player training. Friedman played collegiately at George Mason University, where he was a four-year team member and captain.
