Janice Olivencia
Head Coach
Janice Olivencia is an accomplished collegiate golf coach and former standout player who has transformed the University of Miami’s women’s golf program into a nationally respected contender. Beginning her tenure as head coach in 2022, Olivencia quickly guided the Hurricanes to multiple team and individual titles, back-to-back NCAA Regional Championship appearances (2024, 2025), and several academic and conference honors for her student-athletes. Under her leadership, Miami achieved a regional berth at the 2024 NCAA Championships, where standout player Sara Byrne earned WGCA Second Team All-American status and made history with back-to-back ACC Golfer of the Month honors. Olivencia’s commitment to excellence off the course is reflected in multiple WGCA Academic All-American recognitions earned by her athletes.
Before taking the helm in Coral Gables, Olivencia spent over a decade building elite programs at the University of Florida and the University of South Florida. At Florida, she served first as assistant coach (2012–2017) and later as associate head coach (2017–2022), contributing to a decade of success including numerous tournament victories, NCAA appearances, and individual accolades. Her coaching influence extends internationally, having mentored players now competing on the LPGA, Epson Tour, and Ladies European Tour, and supporting athletes in prestigious events like the Arnold Palmer Cup and Pan American Games. As a player, Olivencia was a two-time NCAA All-American and the 2002 Big 12 Player of the Year at the University of Texas, and she became the first Puerto Rican woman to qualify for both the Ladies European Tour and the U.S. Women’s Open.
