Jamison Koesterer
Associate Head Men's Lacrosse Coach - Defensive Coordinator
Jamison Koesterer, a 2007 Johns Hopkins alumnus, has been a key part of the Blue Jays men’s lacrosse program since being named defensive coordinator on May 8, 2020, and was promoted to Associate Head Coach on October 7, 2024.
Before his return to Homewood, he spent four seasons in the same defensive role at UMBC. As coordinator, Koesterer also supports the team’s faceoff specialists in addition to directing the defensive units.
Across the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Johns Hopkins posted a combined 23–11 record, went 9–1 in Big Ten regular season play, secured a share of the 2023 Big Ten title, and won the 2024 title outright. Under Koesterer’s leadership, Hopkins’ defense ranked first in the Big Ten and seventh nationally in scoring defense in 2024 (9.63 goals allowed per game), and the team set a program record for caused turnovers per game (8.25) that year.
His defensive units have consistently ranked among the Blue Jays’ best — the top four seasons by caused turnovers per game in program history have taken place under his direction.

Koesterer also has deep roots in the game. He played at Johns Hopkins from 2004 to 2007, was part of national championship teams in 2005 and 2007, and posted strong faceoff and ground ball stats during his career. After his playing career, he had stints as a volunteer assistant at Hopkins (2011–12), and later coached at Ohio State (2013–16) and UMBC (2017–20) before returning to JHU.
