Jamie Quarles
Assistant Coach
Jamie Quarles is an American collegiate basketball coach serving as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at the University of South Florida, a role he began in April 2025 under head coach Bryan Hodgson. With more than a decade of coaching experience at various collegiate levels, Quarles brings a strong background in player development, recruiting, and program building to the Bulls’ staff. Prior to his arrival in Tampa, he spent two seasons on the Arkansas State University men’s basketball staff, including the 2024–25 campaign as Associate Head Coach. During that season, Quarles helped guide the Red Wolves to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), showcasing his ability to contribute meaningfully to both in-game preparation and overall team success.
Before his tenure at Arkansas State, Quarles spent six impactful seasons at the University at Buffalo, including the 2022–23 season as Associate Head Coach. Under his guidance, the Bulls compiled a 129–62 overall record and a 76–32 mark in Mid-American Conference play. His time at Buffalo featured the program’s best season in history (32–4 in 2018–19), two MAC regular-season championships, two conference tournament titles, and multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. Throughout his coaching career, Quarles has developed numerous conference honorees, including a MAC Player of the Year, multiple Defensive Players of the Year, and All-MAC selections, reflecting his impact on individual and team performance.
Quarles began coaching at Augusta University as the top assistant before holding roles at King College and Oak Hill Academy. As a player, he was a standout guard at Augusta from 2004 to 2008, helping lead the Jaguars to an NCAA Division II national championship game appearance. A native of Augusta, Georgia, Quarles holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in kinesiology and health science. He and his wife, Porcsha, have a son, James.
