James Kusak has served as director of operations for the University of Louisville men's soccer program in Louisville, Kentucky, since May 2018. He arrived at Louisville after two seasons as head coach at Bluffton University, an NCAA Division III program in Ohio. Before that, he spent two seasons at Spalding University in Louisville as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's teams, helping each program reach the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament for the first time.
Earlier in his coaching career, Kusak was an assistant coach at Centre College from 2012 to 2014 after beginning in a similar role with the men's and women's programs at Hendrix College. Centre won the Southern Athletic Association title in 2012 and advanced to the NCAA tournament round of 32 while he was on staff. A Louisville native, Kusak also directed the Central Kentucky Soccer Club U9/U10 Academy and coached the Louisville Soccer Alliance U23 team to two regional runner-up finishes.
