Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach

James Foote enters his fourth year with the Saints as Assistant Coach and Offensive Coordinator for the men’s lacrosse program at Flagler College. With 18 years of coaching experience overall, he joined Flagler in 2020 during the team’s final club season and helped lay the groundwork for the program’s transition to NCAA Division II competition. Prior to Flagler, Foote served on the staff at North Dakota State University’s MCLA Division II program in the shortened 2020 season. From 2017-2019 he was the head varsity boys lacrosse coach at Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton, Colorado, where his 31-14 record marked the most successful era in program history. From 2013-2016 he was head men’s lacrosse coach at his alma mater, the University of Central Florida (MCLA Division I), where he tied the program record for career victories and guided the team to multiple conference tournament appearances. Earlier in his career (2009-2012) he was defensive coordinator at Lake Brantley High School in Florida, contributing to multiple district and regional championships and a state championship appearance. Foote holds a bachelor’s degree in political science/pre-law from UCF. He resides in St. Augustine with his partner, Johanna Trottier, their daughter, and two dogs.
