JaMarcus Shephard was named the 33rd head football coach in Oregon State University history in November 2025, bringing with him extensive experience at some of the nation’s top programs. Prior to his appointment, Shephard served at the University of Alabama as assistant head coach, co-offensive coordinator, and wide receivers coach, where he helped lead one of the country’s most productive offenses. His coaching résumé also includes key roles at the University of Washington and Purdue University, where he consistently developed elite passing attacks and NFL-caliber wide receivers. Known for his energy, leadership, and ability to connect with student-athletes, Shephard has built a reputation as both a recruiter and developer of high-level talent.
Before reaching the Power Five level, Shephard honed his coaching skills at Western Kentucky and Washington State, contributing to some of the nation’s top statistical passing offenses. His coaching journey began in the high school ranks in Indiana, reflecting a steady rise through the profession. As a former standout player at DePauw University, Shephard was a two-time All-American and team captain, later earning opportunities in player development and administration before returning fully to coaching. At Oregon State, he is tasked with leading the Beavers into a new era, emphasizing a culture of toughness, integrity, and competitive excellence while building on his track record of offensive success and player development.
