Jake Hendrick
Head Baseball Coach
Jake Hendrick was named head coach of the Queens Royals baseball program in the summer of 2023, becoming only the third person in program history to lead the team. Since taking over, he has overseen a number of program milestones: in 2025, his squad opened the season with a win over Appalachian State and saw multiple players earn ASUN honors, including Landry Jurecka (ASUN Pitcher of the Week, All-ASUN Second Team) and Ryan Brown (Freshman Team). In the 2023-24 season, Queens scheduled several Top 25 Division I opponents, set a program record with seven home runs in one game, scored a D1 program record 22 runs in a game, and shattered the school’s home run total for a season. Under his leadership, Queens’ offense and pitching staffs have pushed historical boundaries for the program.
Before arriving at Queens, Hendrick served as associate head coach and pitching coach at Austin Peay University for one season, where the pitching staff struck out 516 batters—among the most in the league—and he helped guide multiple all-conference performers. Prior to that, he spent nine seasons at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. He began his tenure there as pitching coach (2014–15), during which NSU posted a sub-5.00 ERA and set a single-season strikeout record. He was then elevated to head coach, where he posted a historic 38–18 season in 2022, led the school to its first NCAA regional berth, accumulated multiple conference honors, and helped elevate the program’s national profile.
Hendrick earned his bachelor’s degree in business marketing (sports management focus) from Oklahoma State University, and completed a master’s degree in health and human performance (sports administration) at Fort Hays State University in 2014. He and his wife Dr. Danielle Hendrick are parents to three sons: Cooper, Cade, and Carson.
