Jake Combs serves as Assistant Coach for University of North Carolina at Charlotte's Softball program in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jake Combs joined the Charlotte staff in July of 2024. He comes to Charlotte after three years working at the College of Charleston and will serve as the team's outfield coach and assist with hitting and baserunning, in addition to being the camp and clinic coordinator.
During his second season with the Niners in 2026, the outfield continued to shine, posting a .980 fielding percentage, including right fielder London Dirks, who was the only Charlotte fielder to finish the season with a perfect fielding percentage. Olivia Williams shined in center field and at the plate during her junior season, starting all 58 games and finishing the season with the second highest batting average on the team at .321. Both Williams and Dirks were nominated for NFCA/Rawlings Gold Glove. In the 2025 season, Combs served primarily as the outfield coach for the Niners. Across the 2025 season, the Charlotte outfield posted a .974 fielding percentage, including Brelyn O'Hearn, who posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in left field on 60 chances.
