Assistant Coach

Jacob Vander Beek joined the Seton Hall University women’s volleyball staff as an assistant coach on February 23, 2024, under head coach Shannon Thompson. Bringing 15 years of experience as both a coach and professional player, Vander Beek arrived in South Orange after establishing himself on the West Coast volleyball scene. Prior to Seton Hall, he served as an assistant coach for both indoor and beach volleyball at Fullerton College, where he focused on film analysis, recruiting, and student-athlete development. He also contributed to Canyon High School’s success as a varsity assistant coach and junior varsity head coach, helping guide the program to a league championship. In addition to his coaching résumé, Vander Beek has maintained an active professional playing career as an outside hitter. He has competed for the Las Vegas Ramblers and gained international experience with Team Durham Palatinates in England, helping the club secure its first-ever Premier League championship. A 2020 graduate of Westcliff University in Irvine, California, Vander Beek earned First Team All-Cal Pac honors and served as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. His combination of competitive playing experience and player development expertise adds valuable perspective to Seton Hall’s continued growth within the BIG EAST Conference.
