Itoro Coleman

Itoro Coleman (née Itoro Umoh) is a veteran collegiate women’s basketball coach and former standout guard. She joined Virginia Tech as Associate Head Coach in April 2024, after several years on the staff at the University of North Carolina. As a player at Clemson, she was a three-time All-ACC selection and earned ACC Tournament MVP honors in 1999, later being inducted into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame. Her coaching duties at Virginia Tech include recruiting, scouting, game planning, guard and post development, and supporting external operations alongside Head Coach Megan Duffy.
Over her coaching career, Coleman has held positions at multiple institutions, including UNC, Marquette, Penn State, Butler, Liberty, and Clemson (as both assistant and head coach). At UNC, she helped the program reach three NCAA Tournaments, including a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2021-22, while the team compiled a strong record during her tenure. Outside coaching, Coleman played professionally in the WNBA (with the Houston Comets and Indiana Fever) and represented Nigeria in the 2004 Olympics, serving as captain of that national team. She is married to Harold Coleman and they have four children.
