Isaiah Butler

Isaiah Butler is in his fourth year as Head Women’s Basketball Coach at East Mississippi Community College (EMCC), where he began his tenure before the 2022–23 season. During his first three seasons in the role, Butler guided the Lady Lions to a double-digit win campaign, and the program made its second NJCAA Region 23 Tournament appearance under his leadership. Concurrently, his teams have excelled academically: each of his first three squads earned NJCAA All-Academic Team recognition, and the 2023-24 group posted a collective 3.55 team GPA (which ranked 12th nationally among NJCAA programs). Before arriving at EMCC, Butler served four seasons as Associate Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Coahoma Community College. During that time, he helped transform the program—from a seven-win season into a 21-7 campaign in 2022, with MACCC Tournament runner-up and Region 23 semifinalist finishes. As a college player, Butler played at the Division I level for Mississippi State University. He began his college career as a walk-on forward for the Bulldogs, earned a scholarship late in his senior year, and completed his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies (concentrations in kinesiology, psychology and history). He was named MSU’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men’s basketball and selected as a 2014-15 SEC Community Service team member. Butler has also worked as a personal trainer and skills-development coach, which informs his approach to conditioning and individual player improvement. He is a native of Fort Polk, Louisiana, and lettered in basketball and track at Brandon High School in Mississippi. He and his wife, Adrianna (née Neal), are the proud parents of two sons, Eli and Liam.
