Ian Lagowitz
Assistant Coach
Ian Lagowitz joined the Seton Hall University men’s golf coaching staff prior to the 2014–15 season under then-head coach Clay White. Ahead of the 2019–20 campaign, he was promoted to Associate Head Coach, reflecting his growing impact on the program. Over the course of his tenure, Lagowitz has contributed to a sustained period of competitiveness for the Pirates within the BIG EAST Conference. In a five-year span during his time on staff, Seton Hall recorded four top-four finishes at the nine-team BIG EAST Championship, underscoring the program’s steady presence among the conference’s top contenders.
Known for his keen golf insight and strong administrative skills, Lagowitz has longstanding ties to the New Jersey golf community. He has been a member of Essex County Country Club since 1999 and previously served as Chair of its Junior Golf program, helping foster the development of young players in the region. Lagowitz’s connection to the game is also deeply personal. His late son, Alex, competed as a collegiate golfer at Colgate University before his passing in 2016. In honor of Alex’s legacy, Seton Hall has participated in the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Golf Tournament to open its fall season in recent years, reflecting both family tribute and the program’s strong sense of community.
