Hunter Richard is an assistant coach for the University at Buffalo wrestling program in Buffalo, New York, and is in his second season on the staff. He joined Buffalo from Appalachian State, where he served as an assistant coach and was part of a Southern Conference championship team in 2023 that produced five individual conference champions. In his first season at Buffalo, the Bulls had three placewinners at the Mid-American Conference Championships, and five wrestlers earned Academic All-MAC recognition.
Richard competed collegiately at Cornell under head coach Donnie Vinson. He was a two-time NCAA qualifier, advancing to a top-16 finish at 157 pounds as a fifth-year senior in 2021-22 after also qualifying at 149 pounds in 2020. He finished his Cornell career with a 67-33 record, earned a degree in economics, and received multiple academic honors, including an EIWA Academic Achievement Award. A native of Barneveld, New York, he attended Holland Patent High School and posted a 265-26 prep record.
