Howard Joffe
Head Coach
Howard Joffe was appointed as the head coach of the University of Maryland women's tennis team in July 2009. Prior to his tenure at Maryland, he served as the head coach at Miami University, where he led the RedHawks to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history and earned the 2009 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year honors. Before his time at Miami, Joffe spent five seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Southern California, contributing to a program that finished in the ITA top 10 each season. During his two seasons at Maryland, Joffe guided the team to a 13–10 record in 2011, marking the program's sixth NCAA Tournament appearance. Under his leadership, Cristina Sanchez-Quintanar achieved a significant milestone by advancing to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Singles Championship, becoming the first Maryland player to do so. Joffe's coaching philosophy emphasized player development and competitive excellence, leaving a lasting impact on the program.
