Holly Aprile is the head softball coach at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, a position she has held since being appointed on July 16, 2018. Entering her eighth season with the Cardinals, she has compiled 182 wins at Louisville and more than 450 victories overall as a head coach. She became only the second head coach in Louisville softball history after the retirement of program founder Sandy Pearsall.
Aprile has led Louisville to NCAA regional appearances in 2019 and 2023, including a trip to the Evanston Regional final in her first season and another regional berth in Knoxville in 2023. Her teams have produced two NFCA All-Americans, nine NFCA all-region selections, dozens of All-ACC and academic honorees, and a large group of NFCA Scholar-Athletes. Louisville has also set notable team marks under her direction, including a school-record 106 stolen bases in 2019 and a program-best 64 home runs in 2023. The 2019 club finished as the national leader in triples per game, reflecting an aggressive offense that made an immediate impact in her debut season.
