Hannah Stires joined the Central Washington University volleyball coaching staff in 2026, transitioning into a coaching role after one of the most decorated defensive playing careers in program history. As a former Wildcat libero, she earned multiple accolades including two GNAC Defensive Player of the Year honors and AVCA All-American Honorable Mention recognition. Stires was a cornerstone of Central Washington’s defense and played a pivotal role in the team’s success, including contributing to the Wildcats’ 2024 GNAC Championship—the program’s first conference title in nearly two decades.
Over her collegiate career, Stires was a four-time GNAC All-Conference selection, earning First Team honors three times, and consistently ranked among the conference’s top defensive players. She led the GNAC in digs during one season and paced her team in digs four times, demonstrating consistency and high-level performance across five seasons. In addition to her on-court achievements, she excelled academically, earning multiple GNAC and CSC Academic All-Conference honors. Now as an assistant coach, Stires brings elite defensive expertise and firsthand knowledge of the program’s systems, focusing on developing backcourt play, serve-receive efficiency, and overall team defense while mentoring the next generation of Wildcats.
