Morantes 3rd Season University of Arkansas Men’s Golf Associate Head Coach New Mexico, 2018 (updated June 2025) Gustavo Morantes (pronounced Goose-Tah-Vo More-Ahn-Tess) was named Arkansas men’s golf associate head coach on July 26, 2023. In his first season at Arkansas, the Razorbacks landed the #4 recruiting class in the country, was ranked among the top 10 most of the season (with a final ranking of 8th by the GCAA and 13th in the NCAA/Clippd), won twice and set a school record for scoring average (282.97) In fact, the scoring average bettered the previous mark by nearly two full strokes.
Individually, Jacob Skov Olesen was named second team All-America and first team All-SEC as he became the first Razorback to finish the season with a scoring average below 70 (69.94). John Driscoll III was named All-Region as his scoring average of 70.77 ranks fourth-best in school history and Thomas Curry was named to the SEC All-Freshman team. Year two at Arkansas saw the Razorbacks show marked improvement over the course of the season as the program reached its 17th-straight NCAA Regional. The team repeated as champion at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate and Erich Fortlage and John Daly II each won tournaments.
