Griff Graves is the head coach of cross country and assistant coach for distance at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a position he took in August 2023. He arrived at Pitt after five seasons at Syracuse, his alma mater, where he coached the program's distance runners. In 2022-23, Syracuse scored in all six NCAA championship events across men's and women's cross country, indoor track and field, and outdoor track and field. The Syracuse men won the 2019 ACC cross country title and captured NCAA Northeast Region championships in 2018, 2021, and 2022, and both teams competed at the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
Before returning to Syracuse, Graves was operations assistant for Florida State's cross country and track and field programs during a season in which the Seminoles won both ACC indoor team titles and the men's ACC outdoor championship. He began coaching as a volunteer assistant at Appalachian State in 2016-17, when the women's team won a Sun Belt cross country title.
