Gio Alfonzo
Assistant Baseball Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Gio Alfonzo joined the Flagler College baseball staff as Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator in October 2025. He returns to the program under Head Coach Greg Guilliams following a stint at Valdosta State University where he served as a graduate assistant and worked primarily with hitters and infielders — during his time there, the team led the Gulf South Conference with a .327 batting average.
As a player, Alfonzo was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the 21st round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft and went on to play professionally for the Marlins organization and the New York Mets organization, along with time in independent leagues. He played his collegiate baseball at Florida State University and the University of Tampa, participating in three NCAA College World Series appearances and earning ABCA Division II All-American third-team honors in 2015.
At Flagler, Alfonzo brings his professional playing background and collegiate coaching experience into his role as recruiting coordinator and assistant coach, tasked with identifying and securing student-athlete talent while contributing to player development on the field. His role includes recruiting outreach, organizing prospect camps, and coaching hitters and infielders to enhance the Saints’ on-field performance.
