George Halcovage III is the head coach of the University at Buffalo men's basketball team in Buffalo, New York. He was appointed on March 30, 2023, becoming the 15th head coach in program history after a 15-year run at Villanova that ended with his promotion to associate head coach.
Before taking over at Buffalo, Halcovage spent his entire Division I coaching career at Villanova under Jay Wright. He joined the staff in 2008 as a graduate assistant and was part of the group that helped Villanova reach the 2009 NCAA Final Four. He was promoted to video coordinator in 2010, then advanced to director of basketball operations, serving in that position when Villanova won the 2016 NCAA championship. He later moved onto the bench as an assistant coach and was on staff for the Wildcats' 2017-18 national title season, when the team finished 36-4. In June 2021, he was elevated to associate head coach.
