George Brown is the associate head coach and pitching coach for St. John's University baseball in Queens, New York, a position he has held since returning to his alma mater before the 2018 season.
Brown quickly oversaw one of the country's better pitching staffs in his first season back. St. John's finished 2018 with a 3.08 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP, both fifth nationally, recorded seven shutouts, and won 40 games. Two pitchers from that staff, Kevin Magee and Mike LoPresti, were selected in the MLB Draft. In 2019, four of Brown's pitchers were chosen in the first 18 rounds of the draft: Gavin Hollowell, Sean Mooney, Joe LaSorsa, and Jeff Belge. That season, the Red Storm ranked first in the BIG EAST and 42nd nationally with a 3.89 ERA, while LaSorsa posted a 1.66 ERA that placed him among the national leaders and joined Hollowell on the All-BIG EAST First Team.
