Head Coach
Gary Orr returned to his alma mater in 2007 to lead and rebuild the Ramapo College men’s and women’s swimming programs, and he now enters his 18th season as head coach. Under his leadership, the Roadrunners have achieved multiple strong finishes at the NJAC Championships while continuing to develop competitive student-athletes in and out of the pool.
Beyond collegiate swimming, Orr has built an accomplished career in triathlon coaching. He founded and directs a successful triathlon training program that serves age-group, junior, elite, and professional athletes. A dedicated triathlete himself, he is a three-time Ironman Lake Placid finisher and has led two New Jersey Masters Swimming programs to five state championships, producing two individual world masters champions. A 1983 Ramapo graduate with a degree in business administration, Orr was a standout varsity swimmer and team captain, earning Metropolitan Conference Champion honors in the 1650 freestyle and setting multiple school records. He resides in West Milford, New Jersey, with his family.
