Gabe Gross
Associate Head Coach
Gabe Gross, a former Auburn All-American and Major League Baseball veteran, rejoined the Tigers’ baseball staff prior to the 2018 season and was promoted to Associate Head Coach in July 2023. Entering his ninth season back on the Plains in 2026, Gross serves as Auburn’s hitting coach and has been instrumental in the program’s offensive resurgence. Under his guidance, Auburn has made two College World Series appearances (2019, 2022), four Super Regional appearances, and multiple NCAA Regional trips, including hosting the program’s first-ever home Super Regional in 2025. His offenses have produced a combined .284 batting average with 851 doubles and 550 home runs across eight seasons, including four of the top eight home run totals in program history.
Gross has mentored 18 All-SEC honorees, five All-Americans, five Freshman All-Americans, and numerous MLB Draft selections, including 2025 first-round pick Ike Irish. A standout outfielder at Auburn from 1999–2001, Gross was a first-team All-American in 2000 after leading the SEC with a .430 batting average. A first-round selection of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2001, he enjoyed a seven-year MLB career and was a member of the 2008 American League champion Tampa Bay Rays. After retiring, Gross returned to Auburn to complete his degree and later transitioned into coaching and broadcasting. He and his wife, Kelly, have two children.
