Gabe Franklin is the safeties coach for the West Virginia University football program in Morgantown, West Virginia, and entered his second season on the Mountaineer staff in 2026. In his first year at WVU in 2025, West Virginia ranked among the national leaders in several defensive categories, including tackles for loss, fumbles recovered, turnovers gained, and sacks.
Before joining West Virginia, Franklin worked in Mansfield, Texas, where he founded F4 Sports Academy and taught high school business while coaching football and soccer at Timberview High School. Earlier in his career, he spent five seasons at Boise State, his alma mater, serving as safeties coach in 2016 and later overseeing the nickels beginning in 2019. Boise State's defense showed steady improvement in points allowed during his first three seasons on staff, and four safeties earned All-Mountain West recognition while he was there.
