Frank Bergren is an assistant coach for the University of Rhode Island men's soccer program in Kingston, Rhode Island, and entered his 27th season with the Rams in 2025, making him the longest-serving member of the staff. A URI graduate, he earned a Bachelor of Science in physical education in 1975 and a Master of Science in 1981. Bergren joined Rhode Island's staff in 1999 under former head coach Ed Bradley after serving as the varsity boys' soccer coach at North Kingstown High School from 1995 to 1998.
His work with the Rams includes coordinating pregame warmups, supervising postgame recovery, assisting with the design and implementation of the program's year-round fitness plan alongside strength and conditioning coach Doug Stone, and handling match filming and postgame editing for team review. He also works with players who are not part of the traveling squad. Outside the college program, Bergren has served as department head for physical education and health at Westerly High School, where he has worked for 29 years. He holds an Advanced National Diploma from the NSCAA, is licensed by the United States Soccer Federation, and has also worked with the Rhode Island boys' Olympic Development Program and as a former assistant director of the Connecticut Soccer School.
