Fitzroy Anthony
Associate Head Coach
Fitzroy Anthony is the Associate Head Coach of the University of Miami women’s basketball program, continuing into his 11th season on the Hurricanes’ coaching staff. He originally joined the Miami women’s basketball team as an assistant coach on May 18, 2015 and was promoted to Associate Head Coach on May 5, 2022. Anthony briefly served as the interim head coach following the retirement of longtime head coach Katie Meier in March 2024 before resuming his role under new head coach Tricia Cullop. During his tenure with Miami, the Hurricanes have reached the NCAA Tournament multiple times, including the program’s first-ever Elite Eight appearance in 2023. Known for his energetic and passionate coaching style, Anthony has been regarded as one of the top assistants nationally and was recognized by The Athletic as the No. 2 assistant coach in the nation.
A respected recruiter and player developer, Anthony took over recruiting coordination duties in 2021 and has helped Miami secure several highly ranked recruiting classes, including nationally top-15 classes in recent years. He has worked closely with numerous All-ACC performers and WNBA draft selections, mentoring both forwards/centers and guards alike. Anthony’s influence extends to successful transfer portal classes that have bolstered Miami’s roster. Before his time at Miami, he gained collegiate coaching experience as an assistant at Florida Atlantic University, where he contributed to the program’s conference transition and player development. Originally from Antigua, Anthony moved to Florida at a young age, played basketball at Olympic Heights High School, and continued his playing career at Palm Beach Atlantic University, earning a bachelor’s degree in education in 2008.
