Evan Elberg
Head Coach
Evan Elberg returned to The College of New Jersey as the head coach of the men’s basketball program on July 31, 2025, marking a full-circle moment in his coaching career. His appointment followed a successful period as director of basketball operations at Division I Saint Peter’s University, where he managed team logistics, recruiting databases, and program operations. Elberg’s coaching roots run deep at TCNJ, having previously served as an assistant coach from 2015–2019, helping recruit standout players and contribute to consistent NJAC Tournament appearances and strong team performance. Prior to his head coach role, he also gained substantial experience as an assistant coach at Gettysburg College, where his strategic defensive focus coincided with the Bullets’ resurgence in the Centennial Conference, including back-to-back playoff berths and a regular-season crown in 2024.
Elberg’s basketball journey began as a four-year letter winner at Drew University, where he served as team captain and graduated with a business studies degree. After beginning his coaching career with positions at Drew and Washington College, he made his mark recruiting and developing players on the AAU circuit, including coaching youth teams that produced Division I and Division III collegiate talent. Known for his relentless work ethic, strong recruiting ties in New Jersey, and passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court, Elberg returns to TCNJ poised to build upon a culture of competitiveness and community pride in Lions basketball.
