Erwin Van Bennekom
Assitant Coach
Erwin van Bennekom joined Florida State University’s women’s soccer staff in 2025 as an assistant coach, following six seasons as the head coach of the Indiana University women’s soccer program. During his tenure at Indiana, he amassed a record of 44-39-20 and led the Hoosiers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in a decade in 2023. At FSU, van Bennekom is expected to work on player development, tactical preparation, and assisting with recruiting in conjunction with the rest of the coaching staff. Prior to leading Indiana, van Bennekom built a strong resume as an assistant and associate head coach at Duke (2015–2018) where his impact contributed to multiple College Cup appearances and strong conference finishes. He also served as an assistant at Sky Blue FC (professional level), Alabama, and began his coaching career at NJIT as an assistant and recruiting coordinator. Hailing from the Netherlands, van Bennekom played in semi-professional leagues in the U.S. and competed in futsal in Holland, and he holds a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from De Haagse Hogeschool.
