Associate Coach
Erik Pastrana is an accomplished collegiate basketball coach serving as an associate coach for the University of Miami men’s basketball program. He was named to the Hurricanes’ staff in April 2025 after three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Georgia, where he played a key role in the Bulldogs’ resurgence. During his tenure in Athens, Georgia recorded two 20-win seasons and earned its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2015. Prior to Georgia, Pastrana built a diverse and respected résumé across multiple levels of college basketball. He served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Oklahoma State from 2019 to 2021, where he helped sign the nation’s No. 4 recruiting class in 2020, highlighted by Cade Cunningham, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Earlier Division I stops include Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, and Stephen F. Austin, where he was part of three consecutive NCAA Tournament teams under Brad Underwood. Pastrana also gained head coaching experience at Daytona State College and began his career as a graduate assistant at Kansas State. A Florida native and member of the Latino Association of Basketball Coaches, Pastrana holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida State and a master’s degree from Kansas State, bringing a strong background in both coaching and student development to Miami’s program.
