Edgar Vargas is an assistant coach for the University of Vermont men's soccer program in Burlington, Vermont. He returned to Vermont after completing a master's degree in data analytics at San Diego State University, rejoining the Catamount program where he previously played from 2019 through 2023.
A native of Yakima, Washington, Vargas was a goalkeeper at Vermont and served as team captain in 2023. During his playing career, the Catamounts climbed as high as No. 4 in the national rankings in 2022, reached the Elite Eight that season, and advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2023. After his Vermont career, he spent his graduate season at San Diego State in 2024, appearing in five matches, making four starts, and recording one shutout.
