Echo Allred
Assistant Coach
Echo Allred joins the University of Mary Washington’s softball staff as an Assistant Coach specializing in pitching. Her responsibilities encompass the development of pitchers, the mental aspects of the game, leadership cultivation, and the orchestration of skills-based instruction. Before arriving at UMW, Allred spent four seasons (2019-2023) as an assistant coach at Brooke Point High School in Stafford, Virginia, where her program won both district and regional championships in 2021 and she helped guide many pitchers to collegiate scholarship opportunities at the Division I, II and III levels.
Prior to Brooke Point, she coached at Brigham Young University–Hawai‘i from 2007-2009, and for more than 20 years she has led private pitching lessons, run pitching camps and clinics across Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Hawai‘i and Virginia. As a collegiate athlete, Allred competed at BYU-Hawai‘i from 2002-2006, where she led her team in strikeouts each year, posted a career ERA of 1.60, threw a 13-inning no-hitter and a perfect game, and earned All–Pacific West Conference second-team and Academic Team honors. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise & Sport Science (emphasis in Health & Wellness, minor in Coaching). Outside of athletics, Allred is also a certified chocolatier and runs her own artisanal chocolate business—she earned a gold medal in 2020 for Best Caramel and a silver in 2021 for Best Spicy Chocolate at the International Chocolate Salon.
