Dyrell Roberts is the Balogh Family Football Assistant Coach for Wide Receivers at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, joining the football staff on December 29, 2025.
Roberts arrived at Wake Forest after three seasons at East Carolina, where he coached wide receivers from 2023 through 2025. His receiver groups were among the most productive in the American Athletic Conference, and he was part of an offense that ranked 27th nationally in passing in 2024. In 2025, East Carolina's receivers combined for 429 catches, 3,545 yards and 22 touchdowns. Anthony Smith posted 1,053 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, earned first-team all-conference honors, and was named Military Bowl MVP after setting the game's receiving yardage record. Yannick Smith also received all-conference recognition that season. In 2024, Roberts coached a unit that totaled 197 receptions for 2,872 yards and 21 touchdowns. Winston Wright Jr. earned All-America and all-conference honors as a returner and receiver, Anthony Smith received honorable mention all-conference recognition, and Chase Sowell was a second-team all-conference selection. During Roberts' first season at ECU in 2023, Chase Sowell led the group with 47 catches for 622 yards, while Jaylen Johnson added 45 receptions for 466 yards and later signed an undrafted free agent deal with the San Diego Chargers. Roberts also worked with special teams during his first year with the Pirates.
