Dusty Rutledge is the senior associate athletics director/chief of staff for West Virginia University football in Morgantown, West Virginia, and is in his second year in that position. He handles strategic planning and staffing for the football office, oversees recruiting, operations, scouting and administrative support, and serves as a liaison between the program and athletics units including senior administration, marketing, digital media, development, communications, creative and student-athlete enhancement. He also directs the program's student employment efforts, works with budget matters and assists in promoting the West Virginia football brand.
Rutledge joined West Virginia after serving as chief of staff for Rich Rodriguez at Jacksonville State beginning in 2021. Before that, he held the same title at Louisiana-Monroe. His college football background also includes stops at Ole Miss, Arizona, Michigan, Indiana and a previous seven-year stretch at West Virginia from 2001-07. Away from campus programs, he spent time in Michigan as facility manager and director of sales for Barwis Training Methods.
