Dustin Hinson has led the Eastern Washington University women’s tennis program since 2013, becoming the fifth head coach in program history and officially assuming the role full-time in 2015. Over more than a decade at the helm, Hinson has guided the Eagles through periods of steady growth and historic achievement within the Big Sky Conference. His tenure includes one of the most successful stretches in program history, highlighted by a 12-win season in 2015–16 and a record-setting 8-2 conference mark in 2018–19, which resulted in a second-place finish—the best in school history. In the 2020–21 season, Hinson led Eastern Washington to a perfect 4-0 conference record and a Big Sky North Division title, marking the program’s first regular-season championship.
Beyond team success, Hinson has consistently developed individual talent, coaching multiple All-Big Sky selections, a Freshman of the Year, and numerous weekly award winners. His players have also excelled academically, with the program regularly earning ITA Team Academic Awards and NCAA Academic Progress Rate recognition, including perfect APR scores in recent seasons. Before his coaching career, Hinson was a competitive junior player in the Pacific Northwest and later competed collegiately at the University of Idaho. He holds both a bachelor’s degree in fishery resources and a master’s degree in environmental science from Idaho. Known for his long-term commitment to the program and holistic athlete development, Hinson has built a culture centered on competitive resilience and academic excellence.
