Drew Richards

Head Coach

Drew Richards returned to the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in March 2020 as the 16th head coach of the Braves after previously serving as associate head coach from 2014-19, during which time the program went 113-43 (.724) and made four NCAA Tournament appearances. Since his return, the Braves have continued to thrive under Richards. They compiled a 101-22 record over four seasons, including a dominant 73-7 mark in Conference Carolinas play, multiple regular-season conference titles and NCAA Tournament berths. Earlier in his career, Richards served as head coach at Lander University where, in 2019-20, he led the team to its best regular-season win total in two decades and captured the Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship. As a player, Richards was a four-year letterwinner at Missouri State University, played professionally overseas in Germany, and earned both a bachelor’s degree in public relations and a master’s in sports science.
