Drew Mehringer is the offensive coordinator for the University of Oregon football program, joining head coach Dan Lanning’s staff in 2022 initially as tight ends coach before taking on a larger offensive leadership role. Known as one of the nation’s top young offensive minds and recruiters, Mehringer brings a diverse background coaching multiple offensive positions and coordinating at several levels of college football. His reputation was established early when he became one of the youngest play-callers in the Power Five while serving as offensive coordinator at Rutgers. At Oregon, he has contributed to the development of a dynamic and adaptable offensive system while continuing to build strong relationships with student-athletes and recruits.
Prior to Oregon, Mehringer held coaching roles at New Mexico, Florida Atlantic, Texas, Rutgers, Houston, and James Madison. His time at Texas was particularly impactful, where he coached multiple All-Big 12 receivers and helped develop NFL Draft picks while earning recognition as one of the top recruiters in the nation. At Houston, he contributed to a 13-win season, a conference championship, and a Peach Bowl victory over a top-10 opponent. Mehringer began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Iowa State and Ohio State, gaining experience across multiple position groups. A former quarterback at Rice whose playing career was cut short by injury, he transitioned into coaching early and has since built a reputation for offensive innovation, player development, and recruiting excellence.
