Drew LaBounty
Assistant Coach
Drew LaBounty returned to the University of South Alabama as an assistant coach after gaining collegiate coaching experience across the Southeast. Prior to rejoining his alma mater, LaBounty spent three seasons at Arkansas State under head coach Tommy Raffo, including serving as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He also worked as a volunteer assistant during the 2020 season. In 2021, he served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Pensacola State College, helping guide the Pirates to a 28–20 overall record and a 17–7 conference mark. Earlier, LaBounty coached infielders and assisted with recruiting at Pearl River Community College, where the Wildcats finished 41–14 and advanced to the NJCAA Division II World Series as the No. 1 seed.
As a player at South Alabama from 2015–18, LaBounty was a two-time First Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection and a key contributor to multiple championship-caliber teams. Over four seasons, he compiled a .283 career batting average with 110 RBIs, 35 doubles, and 22 stolen bases. In 2017, he played summer ball with the Bourne Braves in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. Following his collegiate career, he was selected in the 40th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. LaBounty brings firsthand knowledge of the program’s championship tradition along with strong recruiting and player development experience.
