Don Overmier is an assistant coach for American University women’s soccer in Washington, D.C. He joined Phil Casella’s staff in March 2026 after a long tenure at Drexel, where he spent 19 years as an assistant coach and associate head coach. Overmier was elevated to associate head coach in 2019, and during his time with the Dragons he helped guide the program through several notable seasons. In 2022, Drexel finished second in the CAA, collected multiple all-conference honors, and set a number of program records. That team opened 7-0-3, produced the second-longest unbeaten start to a season in conference history, and remained one of the last 10 undefeated teams in the nation.
Drexel continued to post milestones during the following season, including the program’s first win over Saint Joseph’s with a 3-0 shutout, an eight-goal finale against Hampton that ranked among the highest-scoring games in school history, and a 6-2-1 home record that marked the team’s best home win total since 2017. Before Drexel, Overmier spent three seasons as an assistant women’s soccer coach at Ursinus College, helping the team reach the Centennial Conference semifinals in 2004 and 2005 and earn an ECAC Tournament bid in 2005. He also brought more than 15 years of experience from high school and Olympic Development coaching, highlighted by leading the Eastern Pennsylvania Under-17 team to the Region I championship in 2007. A Lansdale, Pennsylvania, native, Overmier starred at North Penn High School, played for the Eastern Pennsylvania Olympic Development Program, and went on to play four years of collegiate soccer at Pittsburgh. He earned his degree in computer science from Pittsburgh in 1992 and later completed a Master of Science in management of information systems at Drexel in 1998.
