Diane Richardson is the head women's basketball coach at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a position she has held since April 5, 2022. In four seasons at Temple, she has led the Owls to steady progress, including a share of the American Athletic Conference regular-season title in 2023-24, when Temple finished 20-12 overall and 13-5 in league play in a three-way tie for first. That season marked the program's first conference championship since 2011-12, its highest conference win total since 2015-16, and its first time exceeding 17 overall wins since 2016-17. After an 11-win debut season in 2022-23, Temple matched the best turnaround in program history with a nine-game improvement. Richardson was recognized with the 2024 Stella's Coach of the Year award and was named to the ABIS Black Coaches Watchlist.
Richardson followed that breakthrough by guiding Temple to another 20-win season in 2024-25, when the Owls went 20-11 overall and 13-5 in the AAC to finish fourth. She became the fourth coach in school history to reach 50 wins and one of only two Temple coaches to post two 20-win seasons within their first three years. In 2025-26, Temple finished 15-17 and placed seventh in the conference, while multiple players again earned league recognition. In her first season, Temple went 11-18 despite competing with only eight players for the second half of the year, and Aleah Nelson received all-conference honors.
